Introducing our Local Governing Board

Mrs Samantha Baker-Chapman

I am a parent LGB member with two children currently at Thorp primary school and work in close partnership with the school staff and trust to provider the wrap around provision based on site at Thorp. The hard working staff at Thorp provide and safe and stimulating atmosphere for all the children here and I use my professional skills and knowledge from working within the childcare sector for a long time, to support my role as a LGB member.

Mrs Shauna Pearson 

My daughter attends Thorp and I joined the LGB because I’m passionate about education and the opportunities it provides.

I work in marketing and communications for a local housing association and bring transferable skills to my role as joint lead and character education on the committee.

Through this I want to contribute to Thorp’s continual improvement so it can achieve the best possible outcomes for pupils and staff.

Mrs Sally Grayson

I am the Assistant Headteacher and Reception Teacher at Thorp Primary School. I have 22 years of teaching experience, 16 of which have been spent at Thorp. I love my job and relish the different aspects of my role, working with children, families and the community spirit with my colleagues at Thorp. I lead Maths, PE and Mental Health & Wellbeing as well as being one of the designated safeguarding leads within school. I enjoy organising and taking part in extra-curricular sporting events and lead on Thorp’s cross country and Netball activities.

On a personal level I am mum of two wonderful children who keep me busy with their sporting and social activities. I just love being busy!

Mrs Katie Hart

I decided to join as a Thorp parent LGB member as i have a wealth of experience of pastoral roles in an educational setting; from safeguarding and attendance, behaviour and parental engagement. I have an abundance of knowledge of the challenges young people face and the support they require to thrive and achieve their full potential. I believe I can have a positive influence as part of the LGB committee and look forward to being involved in upcoming events.

 Mrs Lauren Waterhouse

As a Parent LGB member at Thorp Primary School and a proud parent of children currently attending, I am passionate about education and supporting the school community to ensure all children have the best possible opportunities to thrive. I have nine years of experience working in primary education, where I supported children with special educational needs. This experience has given me a strong understanding of the importance of inclusive practice, emotional well-being, and partnership working between schools and families. Having also lived abroad for several years, I have developed a broader perspective on education.

I am currently studying for a Master’s degree in Psychology, which is further enhancing my understanding of child development and wellbeing. I am committed to supporting Thorp Primary School, contributing to its continued development, and ensuring that the voices of parents and families are heard.

Mr Uzair Ali

I am a local resident with a strong interest in supporting the school and the wider community, and I am keen to bring my professional skills to the governing board.

I work as a Principal Commercial Specialist in the defence sector, where I lead on contract negotiation, risk management, and ensuring value for money on complex agreements. This role has sharpened my ability to read detail critically, challenge constructively, hold stakeholders to account, and balance competing priorities — skills I believe translate well to effective school governance, particularly around contracts, procurement, budget scrutiny, and risk oversight.

As a local resident I have a genuine commitment to seeing children in our community thrive and to support the school in providing the best possible education and environment for its pupils. I would bring an independent, outside perspective to the board, along with strong analytical skills, sound judgement, and a collaborative approach to working with staff, parents, and fellow governors.

I am looking forward to contributing my time and expertise to help strengthen the school’s strategic direction and ensure robust, transparent governance.
